“Every March 3rd, Africa at the Heart of Artificial Intelligence”

Africa stands at the dawn of a major transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI). By embracing this technology, the continent has the opportunity to address its structural challenges, accelerate its development, and assert its leadership in the global digital economy.

The African AI Day (JI2A), celebrated annually on March 3rd, responds to this ambition. It constitutes a unique platform for mobilizing African stakeholders to position Africa as a major hub for innovation and digital transformation on a global scale.

Under the motto “African AI: Local Roots, Global Impact”, JI2A embodies our vision of artificial intelligence developed by and for Africa, rooted in our realities but capable of transforming the world.

Objectives of JI2A

  • Unite a Pan-African AI Ecosystem

Bring together governments, businesses, academic institutions, researchers, and citizens around a strategic dialogue on AI and its implications for the continent’s development.

  • Encourage African Appropriation of AI

Highlight local innovations and demonstrate the positive impact of AI in key areas such as education, health, agriculture, and the economy.

  • Stimulate Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Foster the emergence of African talent in artificial intelligence, support startups, and promote investment in local technological solutions.

  • Strengthen Africa’s Digital and Technological Identity

Make Africa a central actor in AI development by showcasing its skills and asserting a common vision of technological progress.

An Unprecedented and Pioneering Initiative

JI2A is the first continental initiative dedicated exclusively to Artificial Intelligence. It affirms Africa’s commitment to building its digital future and actively participating in global technological advances.

This event is supported by a strategic global actor: the CONIIA (International Council for Artificial Intelligence), and benefits from the support of numerous pan-African partners. It marks a major turning point by establishing an annual tradition dedicated to AI in Africa.

The choice of March 3rd symbolizes the emergence of a united, innovative Africa looking toward the future, where technology becomes a driver of sustainable and inclusive development.

A Global and Inclusive Impact

JI2A addresses all stakeholders on the continent:

  • Governments

An opportunity to demonstrate a strong commitment to digital transformation and implement policies supporting AI.

  • Youth and Students

A space for learning, inspiration, and acquiring AI skills.

  • Entrepreneurs and Startups

A showcase to display their innovations and attract investors.

  • Researchers and Educators

A platform for scientific collaboration to accelerate AI research and education in Africa.

  • Rural Communities

An opportunity to explore the benefits of AI in agriculture, health, and education.

Mobilizing Africa and the World

JI2A sends a strong message: Africa is taking charge of its technological future.

This event will mobilize African governments, businesses, researchers, and citizens, while attracting the attention of international partners. It will foster the development of North-South and South-South cooperation, while encouraging massive investments in African innovation.

This initiative, which the African Union is called upon to sustainably support, illustrates Africa’s desire to speak with one voice in the global artificial intelligence ecosystem, while showcasing the richness of its diversity.

A Vision for the Future

JI2A is not simply an event but the beginning of a continental movement to:

  • Create an African AI Observatory;
  • Develop a pan-African network of centers of excellence in AI;
  • Establish an investment fund dedicated to African AI startups;
  • Develop a continental strategy for AI under the aegis of the African Union.

Join the African technological revolution!

The African Artificial Intelligence Day (JI2A) embodies a strong ambition and a shared vision: making AI a development lever for all Africans.

Together, let’s make Africa a global technological leader.

Save the date: every March 3rd, let’s celebrate African AI and build a future where innovation and progress serve the continent!
